Saat gunung Merapi di Jogja meletus, Indonesia geger dan terenyuh dengan meninggalnya Mbah Marijan sang juru kunci gunung Merapi tersebut, tapi kalau kita lihat saat tahun 1963 gunung Agung meletus di Bali, tak hanya juru kunci gunung Agung nya yang tak mau mengungsi, bahkan hampir semua lelaki dewasa dari beberapa desa "menyambut" lahar tumpahan gunung Agung tersebut. Gunung tertinggi di Bali ini termasuk muda dan terakhir meletus pada tahun 1963 setelah mengalami tidur panjang selama 120 tahun. Sejarah aktivitas Gunung berapi Agung memang tidak terlalu banyak diketahui. Catatan sejarah mengenai letusan gunung ini mulai muncul pada tahun 1808. Ketika itu letusan disertai dengan uap dan abu vulkanik terjadi. Aktivitas gunung ini berlanjut pada tahun 1821, namun tidak ada catatan mengenai hal tersebut.
